This dainty nautical-themed bracelet is made from a strip of recycled solid sterling silver, stamped with the words 'Hold Fast', and attached on either side to a length of sterling silver marine cable chain, with a free-moving anchor charm in the centre.

'Hold Fast' is a traditional nautical term that sailors often used to have tattooed on their knuckles... The command meant you were to use one hand to secure yourself to the ship/deck etc and have the other free to help the ship or your shipmates - teamwork is key in a navy!

In current times the term is also used metaphorically in reference to holding on tight to things such as emotions, dreams and ambitions. A phrase to signify perseverence and grit, it is perfect for anyone who needs a little visible encouragement to just hold fast and keep going!

The words themselves may have a powerful meaning, but the bracelet in contrast is slim and delicate. It has been given an oxidising patina to create a vintage look that highlights the text, and polished to a soft matte finish with a very subtle sheen. The reverse is plain with a brushed finish.

The central rectangle measures approximately 3.5cm long by 4mm wide and is gently curved in shape, making it strong yet lightweight and comfortable to wear.

The words are stamped in an uppercase plain font and the anchor charm is free-moving along the bar, but will not go further down the chain on either side.

The bracelet measures a total length of 20cm (8") from end to end, and fastens with a classic lobster trigger clasp; this clasp can be attached to any of the plain rings in the chain, making the bracelet totally adjustable up to the maximum length.

Please be aware that these bracelets are handmade and will therefore not be exactly identical to each other - they are always carefully made to the same size and design but each one will be very slightly unique from any other, with individually placed lettering that may differ in exact position from that shown in the images.
